But I have yet another question we have a 55 gallon and we only have one place in the house for it well we said all along we would start there and go bigger later well now we think it might be better to just go bigger and get it over with... Right now I have a few platys and guppies and ballond molllies in there and 1 pleco. How do you put the new tank in the place of the old tank and it needs to cycle and all whats the very best way to do this.. Thank you all once again.

Use as much of the old water in the new tank as you can along with the old filters to help cycle it....
If you are not using the same gravel tank, take 2 pair of panty hose and cut off the feet and load them with your old gravel and place them in the tank for a week or so to help transfer the bacteria colony around. I usually put one in each corner....

I moved my tank once and what I did was get a bunch of clean buckets. I put as much of the water as I was going to return to the tank into buckets and then i dumped the rest (I did a water change at the same time so didn't use all the water). I put the fish and live plants in one bucket and then I took out a bunch of the gravel and put it in other buckets. Then got the tank where I wanted it and then just re-set it up, used the water I had saved and then filling the rest like you would when you do a water change. No harm done to my fish or live plants!

Get a bucket and put the fish in there once the new tank is set remove half of the water from the bucket (putting it in the new tank) and then get some airline and start a drip line from the new tank down shouldn't take more than 30 minutes if the temps are real close before you can put the new fish in and do water changes say 20% every day for the next week or so...
Wow that was one long sentence....

I would move your current tank to another location and let that new tank cycle. Doesn't matter if the smaller tank has to sit on the floor somewhere for awhile. A Pleco should not be in an uncycled tank.

funnyfish, if you have a freind in the area with a tank ask them to board your fish for a few weeks get your new tank set up and cycled and go get em ..reading your first post you dont have room to even put the old tank on the floor and you cant move a tank that size without totally draining it anyway

The cost of the fish shouldn't dictate the quality of care given to it. It certainly doesn't limit the owner's affection for it.
There has been some good advice here, though. I am kicking myself for never thinking of the gravel/pantyhose trick.
Good luck with getting your new tank going.
