I got a new 30 gallon tank last night with an Emperor 280 filter and an All Glass heater. I already have a 20 gallon tank with freshwater passive fish and a 20 gallon with convicts, but I'm looking at getting probably some dwarf cichlids as I think they are absolutely pretty.
How many could I get, and what kinds would any of you recommend?
Thanks,

i really wouldn't recommend any cichlids in a 30 gallon. even the most docile cichlids are territorial and need ample room to swim and hide. that's just me though. and what are "passive fish" exactly?

I just converted your gallons and looks like you could just keep a pair or a harem of for instance Yellow dwarf cichlids (Apistogramma borellii) or Blue rams (Microgeophagus ramirezi) in that tank. From what I've heard (I'm by no means a cichlid expert) the Yellow dwarves are more mellow than the rams, so if I was you I'd look into those.
