View Full Version : removing eggs

I know this wont always work and it also wont work with every kind of fish for they all breed in different ways, but if you want to take the eggs out of your tank an easy way to do this is lay a piece of slate down against one of your walls on an angle. Your fish will lay the eggs on it and then you can just remove the piece of slate. If theres anything wrong with this suggestion please tell me, but i thought it sounded like a good idea.

Not all fish will lay on slate. Some will lay in caves, on broad leafed plates and others right in the gravel. Angels are known for laying their eggs on slate, tho, but also on the uplift filters, sides of the glass or anything else that's handy.

My peacocks just hold them in their mouth.

It is a good idea though. But as stated not all fish breed in the same way. For the ones that will use it, it is probably the best way to get the eggs out.
