Hi.

First post at this forum, and i'm not that "educated" when it comes to aquariums etc. but might as well start somewhere, right? :)

Well, the thing is, i bought my AT-800F Filter yesterday, but when i put it into the water, the turbine thingy seems like it's choking on the water. When i hold it in my hands underwater it starts shaking and making somewhat of a clicking noise.
I/and the lady at the pet store tried to put it into a bucket of water and there it was completely noiseless and functioning 100%.

Anyone have any ideas to throw at this problem?

Thank you :)

Edit: It doesn't work in the bucket either. Seems like it starts choking ones the air goes away from the inside (i have tried the air-tube too)

sorry, gotta ask, is it a canister, HOB, or internal filter?

By turbine are you meaning pump? If so have you tried taking it apart to check it out and then running it in a bucket of fresh water? This worked for me on one of my pumps for my skimmer. Sorry not too famailiar with that filter but just trying to think of anything that might help.

Yeah, i took the pump off and looked at it while it was uderwater, and it kinda started to jump back and forth (not the way it's supposed to do) and shake

Is there any way of disassembling the pump to get at the impeller. Perhaps is misaligned or something? Who is the manufacturer of this filter? Maybe we can track down what kind of pump it uses.

Am-top is the producer of the pump i think. Can't see any other signs on anyone else producing it.

Is this the same company that markets the filter also?

Problem solved. I went to the pet zoo to have another one of their employees look at it, and it obviously lacked one part that stopped the water flowing freely from the filter and into the pump. Got a new pump and everything is just as it should; Quiet and soothing :)

Thanks for all the answers
