I have never successfully bred and raised catfish, most are pretty challenging. However, I got some twig catfish with a whole setup once that bred. We had one baby last a little longer than the others, but it didn't last too long.

best advice is not to bother. most catfish species do not spawn in captivity.
it takes pretty well a perfect set of circumstances (temp, ph, etc.) and the tank must be setup just like thier natural environments (substrate, plants tankmates).

give it a shot, but there is a good chance it will be in vain.

BTW did you find out what species?
