New filter problems

I recently installed a plen plax cascade 1000 filter on my tank. When I did this I had to remove my old filter so to not loose my good bacteria I put one of the filter cartridge in the basket. Ever since this change i have been having fish die randomly. Does anyone have any idea what my problem mite be.

how many cartridges in your old filter?
if there were 2 or more, then you only saved a portion of the bacteria and you are going thru a mini cycle. do large water changes and hope your fish survive!
think of it this way. if you have 10 fish in your tank, and 2 cartridges, each cartride has more or less, can hanfle 5 fish. by only saving one cartride, you only saved enough bacteria for 5 fish.

You have probably increased the amount of fish you have and have new gravel as well? You just need to grow more bacteria to support your current fish load. Nothing unusual. Keep track of your water parmeters and do your necessary water changes as you're going thru another cycle.

You have no filter problem but a bacteria problem.
