I have eaten catfish. I have seen catfish (the kind I eat) kept in aquariums at like restaurants. But I have no idea how many there are. I doubt that one can eat all predatory catfish for one reason or another. But don't they grow relatively long? And how many would you keep in an aquarium?

I don't know if anyone can answer that question. There are a lot of them thats for sure ;-)

Your second question is easier to answer. Yes some catfish species can grow relativly long. A European catfish, the wells catfish can grow to be atleast 5 meter / 16.5 long and their are reports that it can grow considerable larger than that. wells catfisg of 7m/ 23 ft has been reported. There are a number of othr large catfish but the wells catfish is the longest of the catfish species.

What is the longest wells catfish kept in captivity? The 23 footer catfish, was it in captivity or the wild?
