Man (and women), sometimes getting Christmas presents are a bummer, i planned to get my wife some fish and lots of them no matter the cost as long as they were going to come from my friends pet store. I thought she was going to finally get the tank but thought about it and... the spot has something in it. I wanted for her to get those wonderful peacocks she pointed out but without the tank uhhh i think you get the picture... ruined unless they are in my tank.

Why not get her a gift certificate from this store? She could use it later.

OR you could get her a really nice card and write on it " this entitles you to those peacocks you wanted so much! love, so and so.. or something to that effect. go to the lfs before the holidays and purchase the peacocks in advance (try to make a deal with the lfs on this) so when she goes to the store (you should go with her to make it even more special) they are all ready to go and be taken to your house. also, if you have a friend or family member that is willing, you could have them put together a candle-lit dinner at your house while you two are at the lfs so, when you return she or you will not have to cook or anything but enjoy an evening together. that's just what i would do.--sorry if i'm going a little overboard. lol--jeff
also, whoever does the cooking, setting everything up, you should owe them one. i did something similar to this with one of my "x's" and she loved it. wasn't with fish of course

Maybe your wife will read this thread jman, then she could clear a spot for a nice new tank full of peacocks:19:

I usually do the whole dinner thing as well as other small gifts. I make dinner (this year nana will hopefully watch my son) and then I promise to give her a really long back rub. The back rub is the best part of x-mas as I usually end up with a gift as well. :18:
