I have a pineapple lyre swordtail I bought last Wednesday and she (I think) has begun to spend most of her time moping around the bottom of the tank. It wasn't so bad at first seeing as when I would come up and tap lightly, she would become alert and come to visit; however, now she stays put in whatever place she's lying. She's always upright and when I check to make sure she is still alive, she swims away but not far, just a few inches and then lays down again.. Is something wrong or is she moping for a friend? I'll put a pic of her on here to confirm/correct the sexing. All my parameters are good and to good for swordtails. Is there something wrong health wise? Is she pining for a friend? I'm soon going to move her into a new tank with the friend I plan to get.. etc..etc.. Please help!

TIA fishymommy

Ok, thanks. I was reading elsewhere and they said the same thing that they mope if left alone. She shows no signs of any sort of disease other than laying around so I hope she's just moping. Also, how do you tell on a lyre tail if its a girl or boy because both have a top and bottom "sword" on their tail... Is the males really defined like a body part while the girls is more wavy like just a fin?

Well.. I'm not sure what she/he was but unfortunately, I found she/he dead this morning. No idea what happened.. There were no signs of disease other than the lying around but last night she/he wouldn't move nearly at all and didn't go up to eat. Poor fishy.. Maybe just the shock of the move and new tank..

I do but I'm not sure how often to add it since it doesn't really go away.. I haven't added any for at least a month now.. How often should I put it in? Also, I haven't checked the parameters for almost a week. Its time for a water change and I check after every change
