In a previous thread under general forum I explained about Boertjie the hubby letting me know he was bringing home *around* 50 cichlids....welll....after counting we ended up with a tally or 130...all juvenile. Luckily, he used his head (which he can do at times as he is actually a very intelligent man...except where spoiling me is concerned)...and got a tank which actually works quite well (converted from litres it is approximately 30 gallons). The cichlids themselves are from a brood...the parents have been taken out as the precious owner plans on keeping them....so I have all these babies to raise to a decent size before I sell them..

They must just hang in there for now...we are planning on getting a 75 gallon tank *roughly worked out from litres) at the end of the month....we will then split them between the two...and then start selling them....as well as the severumswho should also be old enough to be sexed at that time..

Goodnite from an extremely tired Gem and Boertjie(we set up the tank in record time...once again)....

Have a good one all....

seven of the little ones have not made it...they range in size from a pinky nail to about two inches..we put a large airstone into their tank as well...and they seem to love it...will put a smaller one in later today...as the large one goes into the severum tank...

Oh gawd. I don't know whether to cry for you or rejoice. :)

I put my remaining 50 firemouths in with the adults yesterday hoping to start the elimination process but I am sunk if the adults don't get rid of them. I can't give them away! They are getting in big trouble and going into the adults caves. That's a big NO-NO! LOL

I've got to laugh....that is about all I can do...I'll try and sell them to some of the pet shops in the area..but they are a littlw too small as yet..I'll just have to raise them till it is time to leave the *nest*...but i WILl keep some..definately...ALWAYS wante texas cichlids...(just not so many of them)...

Well the death toll is now 9 in total......but I wish you could have seen Gemstone's face when she saw how many cichlets were in those plastic bags....... Their colours came back and they look beautiful.
With this batch there was also a huge kribensis female about 3 inches long. (She is MINE hey Gemstone)

Shipping from South Africa to South Carolina would be a bit steep, even if the fish would survive the trip...
