just got my kent marine, 4 stage r.o. filter today and i'm psyched!!!!! just wanted to share that. one of my main reasons for going r.o. is because my tap water is extremely hard and my ph is 8.0 out of the tap!!! i also have very, very high phosphate levels. not any more. here's the link to the unit-- http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pcatid=4453&N=2004+113775 it's the deluxe maxxima 60gpd. this will be used only for my aquarium. and there will be more aquariums to follow, soon
Hey that's pretty nice one good luck with it and hope / it should do the job!

Nice going Jeff. I have hard water too and a pH of 7.6. I know my angels would be happier in RO water. I think you have to use like half RO and half tap water? Seems I read all RO water is not good for them either unless you use RO suppliments.

yeah. that's what i'm going to do. i have super hard water with a ph of 8.2 out of the tap. this will alleviate that for sure. most people in my area do africans and saltwater set ups for this reason. i like a challenge however. also, i do mix the r.o. and tap water 50/50 to replenish the minerals and to elevate the ph. the r.o. water without tap water has a ph of about 5. too low for anything.

Get yourself under that sink and get r done.
I live in an apartment and don't think I even have room for one under the sink. Darned drainpipe is right in the middle. I have been thinking of a counter top one to hook up only when needed. Something like this?

the one that i have i mounted on the wall above my walk-in shower. i then re-did the shower head so that i could run my r.o. constantly and still use the shower at the same time. it works really well. just took some planning on my part to get it to operate the way i want it. another reason i have it mounted over the shower is so if it ever overflows, it will just go down the drain.
