Hey all! Looks like a great community we have here. Thanks for having me.

I recently started up a new freshwater aquarium (about three weeks old, 20 gallons), and I've been doing partial water changes every 2 to 3 days. My question comes from the fact that my tap water is very cold (especially since it's the winter time). After I treat the water, I've been pouring 64 ounces of it at a time into the tank in order to decrease the temperature change so as not to shock the fish. This process unfortunately takes a while since I'm changing out 5 gallons of water for these changes. Is it ok if I start using some warmer water in order to speed up the overall process? My tank is at about 78F degrees. I'm not talking about using hot water, just something closer to my tank temp. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks to all!

My Tank Tenants:
4 serpae tetras
1 oto (had 2 but one died) :(
6 freshwater shrimp
assortment of plants

well, the way i do get the tap water the same temperature (exactly) as the tank is i have a thermometer that i hold under the faucet completely. then i adjust the knobs until the temp from the faucet (read on the thermometer)matches the temp i have in my tank (read on my digital thermometer in my tank.) just leave the water running in the same position until your tank is filled. hasn't gone wrong for me yet! i'm not saying this is the best way or only way. i'm just saying it's my way of doing it. oh yeah. welcome to a.c.--jeffthumbs2:
