Hi there, I`m a new member and thought i`d drop by to say hi.
I dont actually have an aquarium atm but am looking into starting one up and thought id do a bit of research first and came across this forum.
I`m in the army and was recently shot in afghanistan and am currently on sick leave healing. Have recieved a huge payout and want to treat myself to a really nice aquarium as have dreamed of one for years but never got round to it.
My father kept many tropical and marine tanks when i was younger including koi ponds, so I have grown up with a good knowledge and appreciation of these wonderful creatures.
It is my hope to end up with a few diffrent tanks with all diffrent sorts of fish but one step at a time hey.

so thats about it. oh and im 21/M from London but based in Cyprus atm.

Cheers :thumb:

Welcome and as Jeff said, thanks for serving.

Research is always a great idea before starting something like an aquarium. BTW, asking the people at the pet store doesn't count as research. If you have any real questions you should run them by the some of the experts here.

It's funny because most people start research once their fish start dying. It's always refreshing to see people starting right! I hope you find this place as helpful as I have.

What kind of tank are you thinking about starting with?

Oh my. I am so sorry to hear you have been injured. I hope this New Year will get you on the road to the speediest recovery possible.

Let me also welcome you to AC. I'm glad you will be able to get a tank going and have one of your dreams come true.

There's much to read right here in Free E-book that is listed on the menu on the left. Go with "fishless" cycling. So much less work for you and no stress at all to the fish you will add later.
