I have a single Jack Dempsey (about 3") in my 40g tank. He's very shy and usually hides whenever I come near the tank. He's been nipped at quite a bit by previous tankmates, so I think that has to do with his being so shy.
Anyway, the tank has developed quite an algae problem over the past few days. I was thinking about buying some combination of Siamese Algae Eaters, small plecos (one to be kept permanently, others to be moved to other tanks), and Otocinclus to help fight the algae problem.
I'd just like to know if this is safe. I know plecos don't usually have any problems with cichlids but the SAE's and Otocinclus tend to be more active and may aggravate the Dempsey. But he's young and shy and I feel like I could pull it off.
