I've been really looking at slightly bigger fish. (angles, discus...) but those always seem to be too "hard" to keep at the discus are just WAY too expensive for me.

I'm going to start another thread about angles but the other fish i kinda liked was the kissing gouramis. I saw that they eat plants....and if they do then they are officially out of the question.

They nibble them, Punisher, but if you feed them a plants-based pellet and give them veggies to gnaw on, they usually leave healthy live plants alone.
They do get rather large, though, at more than 10 inches, so might be a danger to your tetras, danios and shrimp.

If they get that big i don't want them... I'd rather have a lot of fish then a few big ones...

Furthermore, Kissing Gouramis can be VERY aggressive. I had two. The bigger one bullied the little one to death (literally) and then I needed to kick it out of my 55 because it was constantly harrasing all of its tankmates. I have it in my 10 right now, but I will eventually be giving it back to my LFS because it's bugging my Swordfish. And i'm pretty sure it has been responsible for eating all of my Sword Fry every time there is a spawn. Just too much of a pain in the @$$ in my opinion.

They are a food source in Asia. That should give you an idea of their potential size. I believe its around 10 inches to a foot.. Could be wrong
