I have neon tetras, herelquin rasboras, one remaining dwarf gourami, a pleco, dwarf frog, and mystery snail. What other non-aggressive fish are pretty and have personality?

I have a question for you specifically. How do you get your balloon mollies to not die? I've bought two pairs and they both died. Then, however, my tank wasn't cycled.. does that bother them much? I love their fat little bodies and funny personalities

Your tank not being cycled was probably the problem... An uncycled tank that is not properly monitored (until cycling is complete) is fatal to ALL fish.

Cory cats.

I have 6 balloon Mollies that have been super hardy. Some people say they like salt, but I haven't added salt since I have loaches and cories too. I lie...I added salt for a few water changes at the rate of 1tsp per 10 gallons. But I haven't added salt for several months. POint being though, that in a cycled and maintained tank, the mollies should be pretty solid.

Fishymommy I would first make sure the tank is properly cycled now and if not what any possible problems there are with the tank before adding any other fish.. you started 3 other threads recently on some of your fish dying and in one of them I believe 2 days ago you still had ammonia and nitrite readings in this tank.

Yeah I would try and solve the problems you have been having before you add anything new to your tank.

I know that a the reading from a week ago had ammonia but I also posted readings from a test from yesterday and they read no ammonia and no nitrites, 10 nitrates and pH of 7.2

I've read they don't work well together - but my friend has two gold gouramis with a betta and they get along fine - but the tank is 3FT. In a smaller tank I don't think they would do as well. I tried a betta in with my opaline gourami - lasted about 30mins before I had to get him out and he already had ripped fins.

No bettas!! dwarf gourami's arent compatible with bettas and so are neon tetras since they tend to be attracted to the long betta fins. You could try it with success but there are chances where it wont work. I have 4 dwarf gourami + 2 betta in my 3ft tank, and i can assure you they fight alot...
I'll go for another small schooling fish such as danios, or corydoras.

Sweet. Good to know:) I have a 3ft tank. You think I can get both? Nah, I wouldn't experiment. But I think it's nice if you can have both.

EDIT: Fishmommy has a 20G, though. Doesn't she?

Yeah I don't know if I would purposely try it.... They didn't know what they were doing and were just picking pretty fish. The tank I tried is a 30G and yeah no luck at all!!!! I wouldn't try it again unless the gouramis were very little and there's a lot of space to hide... Actually even then I still don't think I'd try it again!

Platys have a wonderful personality, they're quite goofy :P They are peaceful and hardy. I have 2 in my 10 gallon tank with tetras and guppies. Very fun to watch and have nice coloration.
