the guy that always sells coral frags to me and ships them got a new shipment of corals to his store today, and he has a list too long for him mention. Im looking to place a $200-$300 order by next monday, and he has tons of corals. My 55g has 2x150w MH with a 48w T-5 with actinics, any ideas for odd or cool corals? His prices are usually $5-$15 for common corals (kenya trees, mushrooms, brains, etc), and $25 for rarer zoa varieties and polyp varieties. All of his corals are fragged, so no environmental reef worries. If i could get some cool coral suggestions, i'll give him a list, see if he can get it all, and get it shipped tuesday

How about whisker coral (duncanopsammia axifuga) and/or purple neospongodes? Sun corals are nice as well, but you have to feed them.

Get a red open brain and a purple open brain! Chili coral would be cool under some of the shadows in your tank from the rock. You might try some gorgonia if you have enough flow or a clam. gongoria is nice as well.

ive got gargonia, i might consider a clam.

so far i think i'll go with the whisker and the purple neospongodes, maybe a maxima clam, 3 large zoa patches, and a large polyp patch

Get some more gorgonia! What type do you have? The orange spiny is nice and I am going to get the yellow sea whip. Both are photosynthetic so there easy to care for.

Protopalythoa @ $15 (small)

heres the email he sent me, he always sends me a few free corals too, he gave me 5 green polyps and theyve spread to 30. He packs everything secure, and the bus ride to me is on greyhound and only a 3 hour trip. Last year he sent me 15 corals in -30c weather, im hoping it will rain tuesday and be a bit colder since its 40c outside right now, he will put in a few coldpacks though. He lives about 2.5 hours from me, and one day i want to drive and meet him at his store, hes a good guy and im good friends with him. I met him on a online ad, i was looking for corals and he emailed me. First $200 paypal i sent him i was worried he might be a scammer, but hes dead honest

got a good score, he sold the gargonia and colonial zoas i wanted before i could order them, so he said he would give me a discount on another gargonia, and for the same price of the colonial zoas give me a rarer variety. Also, since i ordered over $100, he said he would chuck a bag full of random frags in my order

this bombs, a while ago i hit some stupid monster speed bump with my car, and my car grinded on the bump. After, my car squeaked, but now its grinding bad, so it has to go for repairs tomorrow. I cant get a ride with anyone to the bus station tuesday, so now i have to get the corals on the 15th. In the meantime i probably will add more to my list

major score, he had the harlequin in stock, and reserved one for me. Theyre rare and apparently hard to find, heres what they look like

i redid alot of the tank to make room for the corals. Before the tanks LR was in one straight tall wall, and ive added a canyon in the middle of the tank now.
