I've had one dwarf flame gourami die from constipation almost a month ago and it seems that another may be suffering from it now. I changed to a healthier and easier to digest food after the first fish died. Are dwarf gourami's prone to getting constipation like this or am I doing something wrong?
You can give them peas to help them with their constipation.

If constipated, they are being feed too much and since your tank is not cycled, you should be feeding once every few days is all.

Mine tends to get a little bloated at times but I change their diet often so I think its normal

Ok, when you change their diet, do u change the kinds of flakes? From flakes to other kinds of food? What?

Fish also need vegetables in their diet so some spirulina pellets or flakes should be given now and then. But fasting is also good for fish. Many have one day a week they do not feed at all.

Where can I get spirulina pellets? Are they at petco/petsmart or would a more defined fish store have them?

Are spirulina pellets similar to algae wafers? Cuz I have a pleco and snail that I feed them to and my gouramis usually eat at them. Even my frog has begun to nibble on it once in a while if its by his face lol. I'll try the fasting day thing. It can't hurt them at least. So far, I haven't had any problems with constipation. My remaining gourami and his new friend seem ok.

Im not sure how close the wafers are to that other stuff but I know you can get brime shrimp that are infused with the spin whatever stuff I got mine without but once I need to get more shrimp I am going to get the ones that have the veggie stuff on them

Huh, Ok. Well, I'm still having trouble with the gourami's. The normal male dwarf gourami is still here and well but I tried to buy another flame dwarf and a swordtail but the swordtail died with the laying around symptoms two days after purchase and the flame dwarf a week after purchase.. I just don't understand what is going on here...

I use the fancy drops and test tubes for my tests. I always follow the instructions properly n do them correctly. I have only had the lethargic problems with my gouramies and the one swordfish. I also have the pleco, frog, snail, rasboras, and neons that haven't had any symptoms like these. They all eat fine and are just as active as ever.. Also, there is still the one gourami that seems ok. A long time ago he grew this pimple looking thing on his face.. u can sorta see it in my avatar.. but it was never raw, bleeding, or fungus like.. He still has it and it just looks like a large swelling that has healed over.. don't know if that has anything to do with any of this... it doesn't bother him at all
