I've had this boy for about 6 months now and his colors are really starting to come around. He is about 6-7 inches at the moment.

He's still a little camera shy...so it's hard to get very good pics. He also now lives alone...after nearly killing my Jaguar cichlid of almost twice it's size (she has made a near full recovery now).

Thanks!

He is definitely one of my favorite fish now! The photos dont do him any justice either...he has way more color than what shows up in pics.

Thanks everyone!

For the time being, he is being grown out in a 55 gallon. after he puts on a few more inches he will be moved to a 75, then either a 180 or a 240...not quite sure yet.

Yours looks great as well! It is very dark though...are you sure of the sex yet? It almost looks like a female, but shows some male traits as well.

not sure of the sex either. i just know that these things grow like a weed, ive had mine since it was a fry, and its only like 4 months old and pushin 3.5-4 inches. and eats anything u put in the tank, as u can see his/her belly is nice and plump lol.

At first glance i would assume yours is a female (based only on color and pattern), but the only way to be 100% is to either have a proven breeder, or to vent the fish. Weather your fish is a male or female will make a huge difference in projected max size.
