Any time you mix cichlids you need to match agression levels.

I have Caudopunks and Juli ornatus in both a 75 gallon and my 300 gallon with no problems at all. They are breeding and very happy together.

I try to take more into consideration than that actually...habitat, space, breeding behavior...etc. Point well taken however...Juli's can be a little Pi$$y

You said you have a 75 gallon Spyder, my tank is a 30 gallon...I have a 90 Mbuna tank...but wouldn't even consider mixing Tang w/ Malawi.

Could I have a pair of male punks...with around 6 female...and maybe a pair of Juli's?...I might go with the same sex juli's to keep the peace.

In a 30 I would go with a trio, no more. You will get overwhelmed with babies anyway. That would be for the Punks and Ornatus. If you have multiple males you will end up with one dominant and the other dead. I have only minor aggression between the Punks and Ornatus.

By trio do you mean just one species?

By trio I mean one male, 2 female.

This is true, I have had to pay close attention in my selection of other tank mates. Aquascaping played a big part in keeping the Juli's attitude at bay.
