Thanks to Mr Fish (that's Billy to his pals me being one lately) I have mangaged to identify my cichlid family a belonging to the severum group....heros severus severum/green severum/banded severum to be exact (see, I have been doing my homework):ezpi_wink1:

AFter lots of begging they have finally decided to pose for one or two halway decent photos...which can be seen at the link which follows...

Thank you everyone....they ARE a little on the shy side, but are getting more and more used to us.....and of course...when the lid comes off..they know it is feeding time..and don't mind doing a few turns for theier food as it were..

soooo.....feeling the tank for the family of mr and mrs Big Daddy and Abigail Severum was too small for them and their family....we went out and splurged on a new laaaarge tank for them....which has now finally been cleaned and filled with water...and sand..and which has now been heated to the deisred temperature....I'll be throwing in some gunk that I'll suck up from one of my tanks...some time today....and then I am going to put some of my semi-grown guppy babies in there...before I sell them off to the pet shops...they should grow quite quickly. We are not going to put the family severum in yet..this huge tank is going to be the first to go to our new home *moving end of August*...and will be set up and all ready for them..will post piccies once all is looking nice and pretty

The severum has been on my "gotta have" list for some time. I love all of them. The golds, the reds, the tourqoise and the greens. I have really taken a fancy to the reds but will have to special order them.

You are one crazy woman. You set your tank up in July and moving in Aug? Now you sound like me.

lol.....Lady Hobbs...this is my and Boertjies second marriage each...and our collective children are all in high school...the youngest daughter(mine) is turning 16...then our second youngest son (his...but lives with us)..my son (almost 19 and in last year of school...and a daughter (also almost 19) who lives with her mom and is also in her last year of school....so the animals and fish have sort of become our babies...*s*
