My girls love kitties....we have had some bad luck in the past and they lost their last one just over a year ago. They have wanted another ever since so for Christmas Tom & I decided to get 2 new kitties, one for each. Hopefully having each other to play with will keep them happy, entertained and not wanting to go outside. I contacted PAWS organization after seeing a posting for an adorable baby, got approved, and also found a private family that had a rescue that needed a good home and intended on her being our second adoption. Well, it didn't turn out quite as expected. My 13 yr old niece who is staying with us, and who we are trying to provide as stable of a family life as we can and make her feel as much a part of the family as we can, fell in love with a second kitty. Before we got to the house to see the private adoption I had called the PAWS foster mom back and told her not to let the other kitty go.
The private adoption kitty didn't click with us and was not going to be a good fit into our home. By this time, I couldn't stand the thought of going home without the kitties even though I had already arranged for them to stay with the foster mom until the 23rd, have my mom keep them and bring them over on Christmas Day. I went back to the PAWS foster mom, picked out kitty number 3 and came home with Mya, Ernie (AKA liquid kitty) and Emma pictured here. Mya is the tortoiseshell, Ernie is the blue collared kitty, and Emma, who is still a little shy right now is on my youngest daughters lap.

Those are my daugther's, Riley 5, Mikayla 11. Don't mind Riley's hair, you can tell she spent the day with Daddy while I did kitty patrol...AFTER getting the sleepover girls home!

Am I crazy? PROBABLY, but that is part of what makes this house so much fun!

Just a suggestion kimmers and you can take it or leave it. I have adopted many many cats from the spca and also dogs. The 1 thing I have learned is to always bring the sdopted cat in to the vet w/i the first week. It is always awful to find out after you are attached to the animal that it is ill. At the vet ask for a ring worm screen as well. They use a type of black light and I promise you that you will be glad you found out early if the cats have it!!!
We adopted two more cats (ivan and isabella) and they had ringworm but we didn't find out for about 3 weeks. They had already infected our other cat and us. The treatment for the cats causes our older cat to stop eating and and form a fatty liver. She almost died.....$4500 in vet bills (it was my wives cat and I pay anything to keep her happy) and 6 months of blending food and hand feeding with a syringe. We do an intial check up with almost all our pets and it pays of in the end. Although, most of our pets after the 1st check become Christian Scientists for the rest of thier lives.

BTW...Good looking kids and cats.

Here's a few pict's for ya kimmers.

Thanks so much for the tip NB, I may just take you up on it. We adopted them from PAWS, not the local pound or what have you and they have been vet checked, first shots, spayed/neutered, if the paperwork tells the truth! i would really hate to see us find out later something is wrong with one of the kitties....so here is Kim, pulling out the credit card, calling the vet....just in case!
Your cats are adorable! I actually saw some blue types of cats (not sure of exact breed) that were available thru breed specific websites but fell in love with Mya first, and the other 2 just stole my heart when I was there. I can't wait until they are comfortable and confident enough to roam the house with our dogs and always find their litterbox. Right now they are contained to the back of the house, and the dogs the front with a gate in between. 2 are venturing out to see and hiss at the dogs with the hissing getting less and less as the day goes on.
