Okay, so this is not a thread of my animals.

We have a family of mockingbirds that have decided to build a nest in our shorter/younger flowering pear tree. Which has been really neat because we have watched these guys go from eggs to babies!! To let you know how short this tree is right now, I am about 5'6" and I just had to reach up to take these pics of the babies. Let me tell you, my husband was standing behind me in case one of the parents decided to show up. Anyone ever been attacked by a mockingbird??? Not fun!!

So these are pics from today!! Enjoy!!

I was a bit surprised at how big their mouthes opened!! This is the first set of baby birds I have ever really gotten to see this close. Every time I happened to shake the tree a bit from reaching up, the babies would poke their heads up farther and open their mouthes wider!! They are so cute!!

They're opening their mouths in hopes of being fed. I'd be rather surprised if all 4 survive to maturity.

Gosh, here in MI you hardly ever see or hear of Mockingbirds anymore. They used to be around everywhere. Must be there are staying further south.

Thanks everyone!!

Mockingbirds are fairly common around here, this is the first time that any have laid a nest in our yard this close to the ground. They usually build nests in the taller flowering pear trees that are just 10 feet over. But it has really been neat, and we have certainly kept up with the babies and watched out for the parents!! Although I haven't seen the parents attack anything in our yard, neither the dogs nor my kids/family, but we try to keep our distance as we can see them really well from my bed room window. Just had to take the opportunity yesterday to snap a few pics while I had the chance!! Baby birds are so odd looking but oh so adorable at the same time!!

Thanks again for looking and I am glad that y'all enjoy them!!!
