After a week of doing a 30% and 50% water change, my tank water has gone from crystal clear to that hazy look again.

I found a filter that I didn't know I had and I was thinking about adding to my 75 gallon along with the fluval 405.

It's only rated for a 20 - 40 gallon tank, but it may give me the extra filtration I need.
Either that, or should I replace the 405??
That's scares me a little because your cycle could crash if you change filters.

i would add it to your current setup. i run two filters on my 55 and i would not have it any other way

I just feel bad that I have the fluval 405. I am hearing so much about that fx5rated at 400 gallons!
I cannot afford that at the time.

Anyway, I'll go ahead and add the other filter. It can't hurt for sure.

Thanks!

I'm running a bio-wheel 200 with my rena canister on my 72 gallon. I think it helps because the tank is so long that the filter at one side doesn't circulate the water enough. You might need to clean your filter too.

Second filtering never hurts. My new set up had cloudy water until I added the second filter. It isn't a big filter, either, but apparently gave it that little extra it needed.

I added a bit too much Stress Zyme today and have a cloudy tank myself. It got set-back a bit from the medications I used so in the went Stress Zyme and too much of it at that. Algae will be everywhere tomorrow I suspect.

Thanks to all.

I set up the filter on the back of the tank.

Between the Fluval and this little filter, I have filtration enough for 140 gallons.
They say you should have twice the amount needed, so I am right there now.
I'll let you know if things look better by tomorrow.

That Stress Zyme!!!!
Yes, you will have algae everywhere, but I think you did the right thing anyway :-)

It should balance out over time, new tanks can be picky sensitive sometimes. What filter exactly is the new one?

It's an aqua clear. It came with a 30 gallon setup from walmart.

I fixed it up a bit and added some floss in there. It pumps nicely.
I figured 40 gallons more an hour can't hurt.

So, you still think the tank is balancing out?
