Hi all, my 3 yellow cichlids, and 1 blue cichlid have a white or tan dot on their low rear fin, is this Ich? should i be freaking out, i only had them for a few days. I use sand and have live plants. Any recomendations?

No its not ich! Its just a tool for breeding the males can have up to 3+ and the females will have no more than 3, its used to mimic eggs!

actually females can have more than three, it just depends on the fish, i have a female esthrae that has 5 egg spots.. oh yea lol their called egg spots! ich is when it looks like your fish has a bunch of little zits lol :19:

Im not talking about your esthrae im talking about his yellow lab and ive only seen up to 3 on a female so thats how i see it.

im just saying that is not a good way to tell because my male yellow lab has zero egg spots while my female has two

My 2 cents lol...Yep, it's egg spots. If the fish are small they can get more as they grow more. It's normal and nothing wrong with the fish. The number of eggspots isn't very reliable in many species for determining the sex.
