OK big guy. You laughed at my complaining of the noise my Emperor was making. Look at the reviews posted by others. HA! I am not nuts after all.

"Have owned a emperor 400 for 5 years. Very pleased with my first purchase. Six months ago I purchased a second 400. The new product no longer has a flow adjustment. Nice feature for feeding time etc. Quality of the new style filter is not as good. Filtration is very good. The filter is very loud. I tried to reassemble several times to no avail. Great for the hard of hearing or those that do not care."

"The filter works great, but the fun starts as soon as you pull the filter out of the box. Carbon was everywhere. The carbon filter has holes big enough to allow the carbonpieces through, so a very thorough rinsing is required before using. First time I plugged it in, it sounded like a semi was coming down the road. Took it apart and cleaned out the impeller. Now it is only a dull roar. Thankfully my hood muffles the sound a little. This is great for what it does, but quality is lacking."

Ahaaaaaaaaa..........I now feel vindicated!

You teasing me about putting the lid on incorrectly and hearing a vibration really isn't THAT exciting but OK, I won't tell anyone. :)

I had a filter that rattled all the time, it turned out that the post the impeller sat on was slightly askew. It would rattle all the time till you jammed sometime in it to make it stop.

Tried that too. This is just louder than my others but it does filter nice. But then, my Penquins filter nicely too without the noise. I will stick with them in the future so I can sleep on the couch again. LOL

Going to bed might work plus shutting the door and putting 6 pillows over my head might work, as well. Maybe I can get the dog to sleep on my head.
