so my betta, she decided to be a pig and after feeding her, herrr worms, decided to eat my cory's algae wafer, or a good portion of it. Now shes hella fat like fatter than ive ever seen before and breathing heavily. Whats going on here? I thought betta's dont eat algae wafers let alone non meat items. I thought they didnt like it? what should i do from now on? the wafer like breaks down so its hard to take it out and my corys take a while to eat it, a long while like a few days. Right now shes in a small ziploc container so that she wont eat the rest of the wafer but right now im totally lost. She's so fat. I dont want her to die from overeating and i know she will eat the rest of it if i put her back in since shes a pig. But at the same time, i cant go on not feeding the corys. What do i do?

Bettas will eat vegetables. It's not uncommon to feed them peas to help with digestion and algae wafers still contain quite a bit of meat. I think the main ingredient is fish meal.
On the plus side, cories are not vegetarian either, so you don't have to worry about being able to feed them the algae tablets. You can try feeding floating food to the betta while you drop in some sinking food/pellets for the cories.

i c. however, thats what i did. lol. unfortunately, the corys dont eat the wafer fast enough b/c they take like a day or two to eat it completely so the betta decided to swoop on it. grrr...what a bully. hmph. lol but thanks for the suggestion and fast response. hmmm i wonder if there is osmething else that i should do?

Try small sinking pellets. Wafers are kind of huge for cories.

My betta attacks algae wafers and also zucchini slices/cucumber slices that are in there for Ottokar the Otocinclus.

I break my algae wafers up so the Betta doesn't get the chance to savage them too much.

My bettas have been known to eat much of the algae wafers. The dwarf gourami do also.
