I shot two of my favorite fishy pictures today and I wanted to share.

This is what the little dude looked like 5 weeks ago. He was a rescue:

And now he's grown at least an inch and is looking much healthier, more colorful.... and rounder. (Pictures taken after a big feeding)

cool severum!

ive had mine for almost 2 years now, he was in a 40g with about 30 blood parrots, and he was the lone severum. water was so cloudy and he had bad HITH. i still bought him, and fixed him up. he's still in my 90g, but from being in such a dirty and small tank at the store i think his growth has stunted, barely gained any size since i bought him

its a old pic (early january i think), but he looks just the same now

Colored up nicely, slimy, and it's gratifying to see one properly cared for and fed. Health just glows in him.

WOW he is looking great. What are you feeding him to make such a big improvement in such a short time?

Thanks everyone :)

cocoa_pleco, that's really interesting. I never realized fish could be stunted to that level. At the same time I think what's more important is that it's alive and that it's healthy.Doesn't sound like it would have lasted much longer in the parrot tank. How big is it now?

For food, what is in my fridge changes often, but so far he's getting frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp and/or bloodworms, fresh zucchini, fresh cucumber, cooked sweet potato, hikari staple, hikari gold, spirulina flakes, random fruit from the kitchen, house flies, bugs from the yard and he helps himself to the occasional ramshorn snail.

he's about 5" now, and looks exactly the same as the day i bought him without the HITH and scrapes allover. He's colored up more since i bought him though

That's great. You are lucky to have a spawning pair. They can be quite picking in choosing a mate. Congratulation on the fry!
