I don't know if I made a right move here... I was reading about what fish can live in the same aquaria with the comet goldfish and found nothing other than goldfish can only live with goldfish. So, I am giving the Bala shark (x3) a shot to hang out with the comets (x3). My question is... will the Balas attack my comets? I need to know this so I can make the determination of donating the Balas, even though the are very cool looking fish :-(. Any answer to this question will be very helpful. Thank you.

No, bala sharks cannot go with goldfish. The temps are not. Usually what prevents other fish from going in with goldfish is temp, pH, hardness, etc.
Get rid fo the sharks.

Bala sharks can grow from 8 to 12 inches.

Goldfish go with goldfish only and because many grow very large, not many of them unless you have a large tank.

that is really too small of a tank for bala's. they will get way too big for a 180 liter

That was my thought.

Do you already have the balas? If not, please reconsider. If so, is there any way you can take them back? This will allow you to use the tank for other fish more appropriate for that size setup.

be cautious also what kind of catfish you purchase. most cats will grow to be massive.

Are you sure you want to do discus? They can be tough, especially if your tap is not ideal for them (6.0-7.0). They are not as hard as many people make it seem, especially captive bred ones that are not high end morphs. However, they are by no means easy. They are demanding and water quality must be excellent. What types of fish have you kept before?

additionally, cardinals an be tricky like discus if their water requirements are not met.
