will they corrode?

I have seen some threads talking about using chicken wire mesh as a way to make a java moss wall. I wonder whether they would corrode?

also how do you cut them to size, they come in 24" rolls etc... and I only want like a 12" square so I need to cut them to 12" x 24" and fold it in half. when you cut them with a snipper, the wires got cut into two with ends like sharp needles, I am worried those will harm fish swimming by, so do you overcut and bend them backwards is that the way to do it?

I have read about not putting raw wood into the aquarium it would rot and give out undesirable chemicals but what about bamboo? will bamboo rot like wood or those can be used?

You could use a stainless steel chicken mesh that won't corrode.

I am not sure what the material is they sell at home centers. I think it looks like galvanized metal.

I think most chicken wire is galv, but you should be able to find some stainless steel somewhere, all be it more expensive.

They also sell plastic mesh that would work.

I wanted something a bit more rigid.

I have used a thin cotton and nylon mix thread mesh to attach javamoss to the drift wood in my 15G and 250G aquarium, its working great and its not expensive.. :c3:

I wouldn't use metal mesh...try getting the fairly rigid plastic mesh that people use to stop leaves getting in their downpipes. Shop be easily available at hardware shops & gardening centres.
