Hi all (new member here!),
We just returned from a 5-day vacation to a gourami with a red, swollen "blistery" looking thing on one external gill cover. I did a 25% water change and started on antibiotics, but it has looked no better over the next few days (25% daily water changes since our return). Now there is an additional bump on the gourami's head, behind the eye on the same side. It looks like it is going to erupt into a red "blister" like the larger one on the gill plate. The other side is fine. Ammonia and nitrites were zero and nitrates were low...but could the antibiotic (gram positive was what i used) have harmed the bacterial bed? The gourami is swimming and eating normally. A coworker told me this is likely gill flukes; can they migrate to the forehead area? Other fish in the tank look fine (guppies, angels), though one of the guppies has stopped eating and also appears to have a head bump. I am at a loss about what to do next -- Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
