I started a 55 gallon saltwater tank about a month ago. Water conditions are optimal. No trace of nitrate/nitrite/amonia. PH is about 8.6 -8.8 (a little high but im having problems bringing it down with all the rock). I have about 65 lbs of live rock and am using live sand as substrate. Point is... why are my snails dieing??? I have 2 damselfish... 2 clownfish... emerad crabs... hermitcrabs... cleaner shrimp and an anemone... but the snails die. What techniques would u recommend for algae control. Are there any other invertebrates I should add for cleanup assitance?? Thanks for your help!!

I didn't know snails lived in saltwater so I've learned something today. Possibly that pH is just too much for them. Better answers from others will follow!

I don't believe snails can live in saltwater...there are some that might be able to handle low end brackish, but that is a big might from what I have heard/read.
