Pleco always changes color?

Alright I have a common pleco in my 10 gallon tank (relax he will be moving into my 30 gallon as soon as it's done cycling.)

regardless, he always changes colors, from a very dark brown to a very bright brown even yellowish, what could be the reasons for this?

i didn't know they did that, i did notice that he's a lighter color when my lights on and usually right as soon as i turn it on he's a very dark color.

completely normal, the pale is their night camouflage, they will color up within a few minutes of the tank lights being on

My sailfin is always changing colors,he even loses his leopard patterning from time to time.

Mine Trinidad does it also.But the 30 gal is not going to be big enough for him either.If properly cared for he is going to be a big one.I would be looking for at least a 75 gal tank or larger.

He gets lighter when the light turns on...and dark when they're off....hmm...you may be on to something!!!!
