Just wondering if anyone out there had any good sites where I could learn more detailed information about aquarium lighting. I have a 65g tank that came with the regular florescent bulbs and I would like to upgrade them in the next couple of months. I'm not really sure what to start with or where.

Sorry about that, it's a 65g freshwater with a few plants (water sprite mainly and a couple of crypts).

Thanks I'm gonna check that site out now. I was just looking for something that might break down the difference in lighting and gimme an idea of what I can afford. I'm just a little confused with the actinic, compact flourescent, regular flourescent and so forth.

What kind of lights would you guys think I could put safely into the housing that came with the tank? Can I just use any tube? Or am I limited to regular flourescent until I buy another complete system? Again thanks for all the replies.

It really depends on what you want to do. You can buy a new housing or you can pick up a screw in Compact Flourescant. Just not sure what your goals are....

Thanks. My goal here is just to increase the lighting overall for better viewing of the fish and the health of the plants I have in there. The lighting that the tank came with isn't much to write home about. So basically I have only a small goal coupled with a large lack of knowledge, lol. What I have right now is 2 tubes and they're 25w.
