Hi. I've had a 10 gallon aquarium for a year and a half. What can I do to keep the green algae from returning? I have to change my rocks & decorations about every three months. I'm getting tired of this. I don't know what to do. This happens when I use real or atrificial plants. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? I would appreciate any tips. Thanks.
Is the tank in direct sunlight? When it is it produces a really large ammount of algae. 10-25% water changes weekly also will help with parameters, and algae... I would scrub the algae off and keep the light off in the tank for a few days... So hope it works out

You may be getting waste around the decorations that your filter isn't picking it. I'd do more water changes and more gravel cleaning and cut down on feeding. No direct sunlight as stated above.
I don't know how often you do water changes but once a week is pretty standard.

you might have high phosphates too, try getting a phosphate packet, you just throw it in your tank or filter, it should help
