Weights would be the way to go. Muscles weigh more than fat, and are easily gained.

High prtoein diets with alot of lifing I guess. Or you could eat fatty foods and keep movement to a minimum.

If you're planning to gain 10 lbs of muscle do a powerlifting program. Tons of calories(eat all you can as often as you can), tons of squats, tons of bench presses, tons of deadlifts, no cardio. It's drastic but for a skinny guy to gain 10 lbs in a month or two is a lot of work
Example workout program
day 1 bench press workout
day 2 squat/deadlift workout
day 3 no lifting
repeat 1-3 perpetually
Example diet
0600 Cereal, 16oz whole milk, 4 large eggs, 2 slices wheat toast
0900 weight gain shake
1200 12oz steak, 2 cups rice, fruit juice, veggies
1500 weight gain shake
1800 12 oz chicken, 2 cups fetuccini alfredo, fruit juice, veggies
2100 weight gain shake
000 16 oz whole milk
Always carry fruit/nut trail mix to snack on between meals, try to get through 16oz daily

Muscles weigh more than fat
no it doesn't. lol a pound of muscle is a pound of muscle and a pound of fat is a pound of fat. It is a very common misconception.
Honestly I would talk to your doctor. They can give you the healthiest way to gain the weight without packing in the pounds. You may have to increase your calorie intake. If you have a local TRUSTED gym that has nutritionist they can help as well and will put you on the right track.

Eat a lot of peanut butter and lift weights. Run as well to keep yourself balanced. Eat LOTS of peanut butter. Squat is probably one of the best lifts you can do to gain weight and then bench press to gain your shoulders. Eat LOTS and LOTS of peanut butter. I don't have that problem. I am happy at my 270 lbs for football. Any smaller and I couldn't play college ball but any bigger and I couldn't move.
go get a job doing landscaping, I get all jacked up every year doing it, and you get a nice tan also. the pay is also very nice.

Doctor told me once milkshakes and bananas when my weight had tumbled. You don't want to eat trash food as that will just add fat that they don't want and will make it harder to get thru basic training.
Also, muscle tone will add on a bunch of weight. Start working out, riding a bike and beef up.
If you're signing up for some specility, get it in writing!

Running 6 miles a day is probably your worst enemy when trying to gain weight. It burns a lot of calories. Muscle takes a lot to build and your certainly not going to get 10lbs of it in one month, especially without a personal trainer and/or A LOT of effort. My advice would be to try and balance out the two....muscle and fat. If you have limited of time to gain. Try lifting heavy like the others suggested, eating a lot of healthy foods, but do limited cardio. Maybe one or two days a week to keep you in shape. Lots of proteins (Shakes, eggs, peanut butter) and carbs to keep your energy levels up....regular white potatoes and sweet potatoes are good. I'll PM you with some other stuff.

Good advice there. Too much training and more weight will fall off.

Usually a lot of protein, carbs and calories. And you mix them with full fat milk and you get even more calories and protein.

cardio is the enemy if you're trying to put on weight, be it fat or muscle, especially since you are obviously an ectomorph, meaning you are naturally very skinny(I never saw how tall you are but 120 lbs is skinny for a guy unless you're less than 5' tall)
An additional alternative is the temporary weight gain(exact opposite of what a fighter does before a weigh in). a couple days before the weigh in stop doing cardio, and start eating a ton of carbs and salty foods and drinking loads of water, milk, and fruit juice. You may be able to temporarily put on 10 or more lbs in a day or two. this is far from healthy but since you are in good shape it should have no long term effects, but you'll probably feel like garbage while you are packing around the extra weight.
Eat a meal before you go to bed, preferably a big mac meal.
