I picked up a dwarf gourami this past weekend. I wanted to pick up a couple of female dwarf gouramis for him also, but my LFS owner told me that they are very difficult to come by. He said that in about 2 weeks there is a chance that some will arrive. Other than that the new guy is doing great and has cleaned up a lot of the algae on my driftwood!

Very nice! He is looking good. Good luck on finding females; you may have to order online.

Are you going to get some floating plants for them?

Thanks!

I was looking into getting a floating plant that will not make a mess and will also not completely block the lighting. Maybe I could fix it to a corner of the tank somehow. Haven't really researched it yet. Any suggestions?

What I'm thinking of doing is attaching some fishing line or something to 2 suckers on either corner of one or both sides of the tank that will sit at the water line and keep the floating plants in one place..
I'm going to get some Amazon Frogbit for my tank..

I was told the same about the female dwarf...hard to come by and most people aren't interested as they aren't as colourful.
I think I might have to start looking to buy elsewhere, perhaps on-line because fish I would like to have never seem to be available

Believe it or not, I saw some female honey gouramis at the lfs the other day. Too bad I didnt pick any up, probably wont see them again for a long while.

Thanks,
I walked into my lfs today and noticed that there were some new additions to the dwarf gouramis. One of them happened to be a female (dull silver with a rounded dorsal fin)! So I picked her up and added her to the tank, but the male didn't seem to enjoy her presence right away. He chased her around and nipped at her for a few hours. At the moment they are both resting at the bottom of the tank right by each other and have appeared to settle down. Hopefully all of the fighting is over!

yeah I know the feeling my Gourami harasses/attacks all new fish I put in my tank execpt for when I put my Angel fish in I normally feed my Gourami soon after I add fish this always seems to calm him down
