I've had a blue three spot gourami for over a year, and Sunday I was given a honey gourami as a gift. I put it in the tank, and all it does is hide in the plants. It comes out to grab a flake of food or two at feeding time, but the blue quickly chases it back into hiding. Does anyone know if these two species can exist in a 12 gal. tank?

The Honey Gourami is generally a peaceful species that can be kept with species of similar temperament. During breeding, the males may become quite territorial and will chase and court females. ANd the spotted gourami is also compatible with other gouramis, but in your scenario it might be the size of your tank thats causing havoc as gouramis are territorial to certain extent as an adult
