What do ya wanna know?

They are from the Regani group of Apisto's and look nearly Identical to the Regani itself other that for a few little pointers and being more slender. They will show their vertical barring most of the time.

It's not a true blackwater Apisto but rather from clear streams so they cope in higher PH's and are easier to breed that the Regani beacause of this.

One of the smaller Apisto's at 2.2 inches.

Not the most colorful at all and quite plain looking little Apisto's

One problem you might have in searching for info is that the name listed is incorrect. It should be A. ortmanni.

However, this is not a common fish in the hobby as it is not a colorful species, thus in low demand. However, in some forms, the males get a nice blue sheen to them while in the closely related A. cf. ortmanni some males are quite yellow. Ortmanni are somewhat variable in form and markings, leading to the belief that there is actually more than one species. However, as it is not a high demand fish it is unlikely that we will get the systamatics straightened out soon.

In the aquarium you should find them to be relatively undemanding. Treat them as a typical Apisto and you should have success.

Good luck with the blue rams. I think I know which ones you are looking at. If it is they are really beautiful looking rams.
