View Full Version : Acclimating shrimp

My new workplace is near the LFS, and even though I should know better, I bought 6 amano shrimp today on a whim. They are in a bag floating in my tank right now, but I'm trying to figure out whether they are hardy enough to do as I usually do (add a little water to the bag about 3-4 times over an hour then put them in the tank) or whether I need to drip acclimate. Suggestions?

Yea, check the water in your tank and the water in the shrimp bag. That should give you an idea of how much stress you can expect during the acclimation. If they are similar than you should be fine with the standard drip. If theres a large difference obviously drip acclimate them longer.

My Amanos are extremely hardy. It's been like 10 days since I set up my tank and they already shed their skin and stuff. They freaked out a bit in the beginning, but I think they can take a hit :)
