Where I buy my corals, they start as frags. Just a few polyps (of zoas) attatched to a peice of live rock. One of my zoanthid colonys was put on a longish peice of rock, but there was only polyps on one side. The rock is pretty long, and I am wondering what would be the best method to frag these to trade or for future propegation.
From all that I have read, All I need is a sharp knife to cut the polyps apart, and to break the rock where the cut is, so I should essentially have 2 colonies after the split.
Is there anything special I should do, or do you have any tips?
I am in no hurry to frag them, I still have the cyano to deal with before I even think about frags, but I want to go into it knowing what to do, and not have to second guess what I'm doing.
I wage war on the cyano algae on the morrow!
