View Full Version : Territorial Danios
Well, as some of you know I got a new 20g!:19: Im doing a seachem cycle with six dianos, so anyways, I bought four on june second, then brought the two from my 10g home. Well the zebra diano, is the most territorial thing, the other fish are actually bleeding in a way from him, im not 100 percent sure what to do with him, im thinking of putting him in a 2.5 gallon by himself, the only problem is I have a very large filter made for 10gallons, and im afraid the current will be too much even though he is a danio, any suggestions?
P.S. RED WINGS WON WHOOOOOOOOOOOOO

i think that being by himself would stress him more than the 10 gallon filter...
yes, but he cant be with anyone because he terrorizes them

Add some floatingt plants so the otehr can hide. Or get a few more danios to dilute the aggression.

Heres some things to try
Add more plants for hiding places
Add more danios (this solved it for me i had the same problem, went from 6 to 12, worked like a charm and now they are breeding all over the place)
Remove him for a while and then re introduce him, preferably after you add the plants and or change the tank around a little bit.
Add a larger type of fish to the tank (usually makes the smaller fish school tighter and fight less amongst themselves)
Up the frequency of feeding slightly. (not the amount, necessarily)
Wait until the cycle is through, the stress of cycling could also be affecting behavior.
If none of these things work i would return him or give him to a lfs in the area if you cant return him. Or you can put him in the ten, danios are very active and strong swimmers, i doubt the current will bother him much. Keeping him by himself in a 2.5 i do not recommend, like i said they are active and he needs a bigger tank than that even though they are small, and being by himself will also be very stressful on any schooling fish.
