I don't know what this is. Maybe a tumor?
Looks like he's trying to grow a horn... or something.
The glass is dirty by the way, so ignore the various specs. They are not on the fish.
I am concerned with the white blob on top of its head.

Looks like an unhealthy growth!! I have seen where fish 'disintigrate'. I cant remember what the disease is called though. I saw one recently here on a BN.

Sorry if it is, lets hope its comething curable. Maybe try a bit of melafix, & see what happens!

Is that the only spot on the entire fish? Is that the only one with such a spot?

Could be fungus, keep an eye on it, if it is it will spread fast.

Yes, it's the only spot on the fish and the fish is alone in a 6g cube, so it's the only fish with the spot (Dr. Seuss would have made a book out of that sentence). The betta seems otherwise healthy, except for that 'growth'.

That's what I thought as well at first, but this thing has been there a couple of months now... I have seen odd things disappear in fish with improved diet and water changes, so wait-and-see was my first approach, especially given the fish is behaving normally (for a betta ;) ). But this 'thing' isn't going away and isn't spreading. If it is growing it's doing so very, very slowly. I'm kind of baffled.

To me, it looks like it might be a subcutaneous parasite. Or a blister of some sort - if a blister, then there would be bacteria in amongst the pus.

I don't like the prognosis either way...
