Hello to everyone out here. I must first and formost express my many thanks to all of you. reading through all the many places AC offers I have come to learn alot. I will be here often! Any way I am a interior designer. I live in Iowa. I love meeting new people. Now knowing that there is a place for me here.
As for my very special finned friends. I have a 10 gallon tank right now, with hopes of my buliding back up to my 20 gallon. Right now there is 2 fancy tail goldfish and 1 algae eater. Only today My husband noticed that one of my goldfish was not actting up to par. then we discovered that the algea eater was somewhat attcking the goldfish. I had to put the algea eater In a tank by himself. I have had these fish for 2 years and have never seen this before. Does anyone have any advice for this new Gal on the block!

Hi there Lostit, cool to have a fellow designer on board, I'm a graphic designer. As an interior designer I bet your tank is nicely aquascaped ;).

As for your fish problem, when you say algae eater do you mean common plecostamus? And what exactly do you mean by attacking? I know that sometimes plecs can develop a "taste" for grazing on fish as opposed to plants and algae. As they get older and bigger some plecs can also get quite territorial, perhaps he's reached a point now that he doesn't tolerate the goldfish in his space anymore.

I have a fairly young plec, only about 10cm or so, and already he's getting touchy when my corys waggle around under his favourite driftwood piece too much. Check out the threads for plecs for more info and also if you have more questions related to plecs post them under this thread.

Otherwise, welcome to the forum and feel free to post some pics of your fish and tank, I alway love seeing new fishy pics :)
