My husband is out at the mall buying a new camera. We are upgrading to a 6 megapixels. I am going to be able to take some good pics now. Too bad I only have gouramis. It going to be nice to have a camera that doesn't take blurry pic ('cause it's never MY fault lol). It's neat too, because it will do movies as well. Our old one only took 1 min movies and they were pretty crummy. Did I mention YEAH! :19:

I'm hoping santa brings me something like that this year. My current camera is only 2mp and it doesn't even take movies. I'm living in the stone age. We all expect to see some nice pictures and movies now.

Great camera, but when we took it out the box the LCD screen had a burned pixel. Now we are debating whether we are taking it back or not.

Take it back. It's new, it's damaged so why keep it?

They have a pixel rule, you need to have a certain number for it to qualify as damaged. I don't know if that counts for something you just pulled out of the box.

I'd be arguing the point on that, you paid your hard earned cash for it

We took it back and got one without a burned pixel. While we were out we also picked up a 2g memory card. I must say it's a REALLY good camera. It's a Cannon PowerShot S3IS. It was $449 Can. plus tax. It's everything you would want from a digital camera and much more. Best you can get I think without going to a Digital SLR (35mm, only digital). I can't wait for the weather to clear up here so we can mess around with it. It has been raining and snowing for 2 days.

Congrats on the new camera abbeysmom...I tried one of the canons last year, think it was the cybershot maybe....one of the bigger ones, can't remember for sure. Was a great camera, but after playing with it for a few days I realized that the kodak fit "me" better as far as how I take pics and how fast I can snap them off. Both excellent brands in my opinion, just a personal preference on my part. I expect to see lots of photos soon!

It should be a good camera for that price! Yikes. I could get another aquarium for that. LOL Now I'm really glad you exchanged it for a digital without burned out pixels.

Sony makes the Cybershot line. Canon has the Powershot (Maria Sharapova commercials :)).

I don't know that I'd say the Powershot is as close to dSLR as you can get, but it's definitely a good camera.

Don't forget that if you intend uploading pics 6 MP's is a bit on the large size you will need to lower the resolution a bit I'd never use anything more that 1 MP for uploading to a website. You will still get great results because of the lenz on the camera, better still because it should take good low light photos (without the flash) although you may need to experiment with this...

My husband is into photography and takes most of the pics in our family (mainly because I can't get my hands on the camera!). I crop, compress and convert my pics to jpg to put them on the web. I have highspeed now, but had dial up for a long time and it used to drive me nuts when people posted a huge 10mb picture. I love the new camera, it has great features and is easy to use. It's nice to be able to use it as a camcorder too. I am looking forwards to getting some good family photos at Christmas this year.
