I'm just interested in what the photoperiods are on everyones planted tanks. I'm just now starting a 55 gal psuedo-planted tank and am interested in what the photoperiods are on the tanks of you plant veterans. Thanks!

I have multiple planted aquaria but they all are topped with 6700K PC bulbs and in most cases with 150 watt 10,000K metal halides. All on dusk to dawn cycles. Pressurized automatic Co2 on all, 14 hour photo period on all summer, 12 hour on all winter.

12hours here too. Any more and you'll have algae.

On the 160 Gallon planted tank = 4 x 80 Watt T5 / 2 x 9000K & 2 x 4000K - the lights are dimmable and the intensity is depending on the moon cycle, season & obviously time of the day but in general they are on 12 hours a day

Our two planted tanks have the lights on for 10g/day. Much lower tech tanks than above, but they're doing well. Almost can't see the fish in the 5g there' so much plants in there. :19:

On my 55gal. I have a 4x55 CF light fixture, but am only running two banks of 9325k light @110w for 10 hours a day. I'm thinking I should bump this up to 12 hours.
I also use pressurized auto Co2 and a "modified" version of the EI for fert dosing. I'm still working out some "balance" issues right now though.

On my 29 gallon, I have a 2x65 CF. It goes on for 4 hours, then off 2, then on another 4. Algae needs a straight period of light so a break helps reduce it.
