In my 33 gal, I have the fish listed below in my siggy, but I can't keep the convict in there anymore, he's being a terror to the others. What should I do? I can't keep him anymore and of course no one will take him. I must admit i wanted to put him in my pond today, you know to just let him go.

What do you guys think?

I dont think he will survive in your pond, although i'm not sure what type of pond it is. Call around to local lfs's and petshops to see if anyone will take him. If not, put an add out on craigslist and/or your newspaper. Until then, you could try putting some kind of divider up to keep your other fish safe, but keeping a place for him until he can be given a proper home.

Where did you get him? You may be able to take him back and get store credit.....its a long shot, but still another option I would check on.

Hes homegrown, he was from the first batch of fry my convicts had. And I know he prob wouldn't live, but if i put him back with his parents he'll get killed that way too. I want my cory to live, he bit off his tail and almost all his fins. Hes killed all the neon tetras, and is torturing my ottos-they can't do thier job.
Thanks for the reply!

I suppose you would have done this if possible, but is there any way to get him another tank? In the short term, if you have the equipment (mainly filters), there are plastic storage containers that work pretty well as temporary tanks.

I have nothing extra, except a heater. If I had another tank i would put him in there

i agree on the plastic container for an emergency solution. have you got a square plastic toy box or anything that will hold water? i know you can pick up 48L storage boxes rather cheaply. not the best accomodation but its better than nothing untill you sort something out.

Convicts are like that, and the only way for tank mates to get away from him is up and out. Depends on the temp of your pond whether he'd be OK. If it's over 68 and under 85, he'll be fine. Convicts can stand temperature swings as long as they are slow. You'll have to dip him out if the temp drops down to 65 or gets above the mid-80's.
He'll be a lot larger and more colorful if he spends part of or all of a summer outside.
If you can keep him in the pond for a few months you can prepare a tank just for him to live in. Twenty-gallon would do it if he was the only fish, which is how he'll have to be - alone.
