My brother has just as much time as I do, and he hangs out in the same room with his tank most of the time, but he just doesn't do the required mantenance. I talked to him about feeding his fish more than just 2 shrimp pellets a day, but he just laughs. I even handed him a container of fish flakes and told him to go feed his fish, but he just sat there saying "yes, yes, I will" without the energy to feed his fish.
My sollution after what happened last night is that the tank is mine, yes, all mine, just in his room. This means I will be doing all the water tests/water changes he doesn't do. His tetras simply need more than shrimp pellets.
When I went in last night to feed his fish, I noticed that his cory had very bad fin rot. The other day he was perfectly fine. He was breathing hard, and I thought it would stress him out too much to move him to a hospital tank. Besides, I wanted him to die in a descent surrounding.
My brother even described the maintenance he did on his tank, and he just gave me this "my tank is just an endless decoration, and the only maintenance I have to do is drop in 2 shrimp pellets a day."
So... do you know the cure for fin rot? the cory didn't make it, but I want to know for future referance. #($*, if I had fed his fish yesterday or that morning, the cory might've had a chance!!! I felt like I was letting down the fish by not coming in sooner... I could've went out and bought some aquarium salt, chemicals, and whatever else I need, but at the time no #($* pet stores were open. I also feel very guilty for going to sleep on the poor guy...
So, sorry you had to hear my aimless complaints. Today I will test all the water paremeters of his tank and change the water/gravel vac.
