I'm so excited lol. Sorry this is going to be long but I've just gotta tell it. Maybe somebody will get something out of it or have some advice to offer.
I've had 2 maingano and an albino auratus holding for a while now. The other day I did a water change and put in a black rock pile for the fish to spit into and some of this plastic fake plant stuff that is short and kinda like a carpet that would also be good for them spit into.
This morning I saw the one maingano spit into the fake plant stuff. It was soooooooo cool! She got down close to the plastic plant and opened her mouth and spit out what looked liked 4-5 tiny fish. A couple of them swam right down into the plant, another swam up toward her then went down into the plant and this one kept trying to get back into her mouth. It was so cute! She would swim up a little higher in the tank like she was backing away from him but he would follow and still try to get back into her mouth. Finally he won and she let him back in her mouth, but only for a little while, then she went back down and spit again. He wasn't the only one still in her mouth either.
I'm not sure how many there were. I was so excited I went and woke up hubby and our daughter and ask them if they wanted to come watch. They both said no but it wasn't long until hubby was out there watching lol.
If that wasn't cool enough for one day...the 2 Neolamp. brichardi that I added to our mainly mbuna tank decided today that they like each other. They were really tiny when I got them and I'd hoped they would pair up but they didn't act like they liked each other and each stayed in a different spot with their own little caves. Today they are both staying together at the one cave and I swear they were even kissing. I've seen fish fight and lip lock but this wasn't anything like that. I'm going to have to read up on them. They aren't acting anything like the mbuna do. If it turns out like I'm hoping, and it is a male and a female and they do pair off, I'm going to get a tank for just them and hopefully their offspring.
This has just been the bestest day:19:
