Who's keeping the biggies? Red tails, shovelnoses, anything over 2 feet. What species and how many? How old? how large? What type of enclosure? What dimensions?

I have a 13" TSN, he was an unwitted purchase by my mother as a 2" baby. He resides in my 150G(72*20*24) tank right now, I manage the fish section of my LFS so once he hits about 18" I will take him in and let him grow up to around 2ft in our 220G display tank. I will then setup the 450G cattle stock trough sitting dry in my basement as a FW tropical pond for him.

good to hear everybody so far has a decent plan to care for their giants.

Its good to hear of an all over aquarium forum not jumping people for having a potentially large fish when they are prepared to deal with the situation.

Yeah I have an RTCxTSN hybrid so I don't even know how large it will get but I am prepared to house it whatever the case may be. I haven't caught any flak over keeping a big cat here yet.

Nice :) The owner at the LFS ordered 3 of those I have no idea what he plans on doing with them but they are pretty fish. To my knowledge a TSN kept in the home aquarium setting typically tops out somewhere in the 24-30" range...so Id expect the larger end of that with it being mixed with the RTC. It is refreshing that members here dont seem to be getting jumped over what they keep...its kind of a new experience with a general fish forum for me.

I love large plecos, do you have pics of him?

An appropriate name im sure, lol! I know that any sort of catfish ive ever had its been a complete hog. My TSN is a prime example...I named him Gator because well he kind of resembles an aligator when hes laying around with that huge belly.

This fish was actually a fish i had rescued from somebodys 55 gallon tank...yes, you read that correctly (a 22" fish in a 12" wide tank). Anyway she is being temporarily housed in my 180 until my G/F and i get the 375 up and running later this year. when we first placed her in the 180 she literaly sat in one spot as if she forgot how to swim. she seems so much happier now and she's so interactive! awesome fish!

When I was in Highschool, I kept one of those chest deep circular wading pools set up in the basement and kept a couple channel cats in there. I caught them both fairly large, one about 29" and one about 34". We modified the pool filter, stuffed charcole and aquarium sponges in there, and the fish lived on for years on baitfish hauled out of the river :).
